In the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, there is a professional soccer club known as Toronto FC (commonly referred to as Toronto FC). The team is a member of the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS) and competes in the league. The team’s home games are held at BMO Field, which is located at Exhibition Place on Toronto’s lakeshore, just west of downtown. Toronto FC became the first Canadian-based franchise in Major League Soccer when it joined the league as an expansion team in 2007.
Owners Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which also owns Toronto FC II and most other professional sports teams in the city, including the National Hockey League’s Maple Leafs, the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and Canadian Football League teams the Argonauts and Argonauts II (CFL).
