The Seattle Sounders FC is a professional soccer team based in Seattle, Washington, United States, with its headquarters in the city of Seattle. It is the Seattle Sounders’ first season in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference and their first season competing in the Premier Development League (MLS). On November 13, 2007, the club was officially established, and it made its professional debut in Major League Soccer in 2009 as an expansion team. The Seattle Sounders are a phoenix club that competed in the North American Soccer League from 1974 to 1983 using the same name as the original franchise that competed in the league from 1974 to 1983.
