Robert Zemeckis Bio Data :

Bob Zemeckis’ full name is Robert Lee Zemeckis, and he was born on May 14, 1952, in the city of Chicago in the state of Illinois, in the United States. In addition to being a director and screenwriter, he is most recognized for creating entertaining films that make imaginative use of visual effects. In 1973, Zemeckis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in filmmaking from the University of Southern California, where he met fellow student Robert Gale, who would go on to become his long-term screenplay collaborator and friend.

The work of Robert Zemeckis was noticed by famed American director Steven Spielberg even before he graduated from college. Spielberg went on to produce Zemeckis and Gale’s first full-length feature film, I Wanna Hold Your Hand (I Want to Hold Your Hand) (1978). In the comedy, directed by Robert Zemeckis, three young girls get captivated with the Beatles, and their friendship develops into something more serious as their obsession grows.

The following year, Zemeckis and Gale collaborated on a script for the Steven Spielberg-directed 1941 (1979), and Spielberg went on to serve as executive producer on other Zemeckis films, including his next project, Used Cars. The action-adventure comedy Romancing the Stone, starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, was directed by Robert Zemeckis and released in 1984.

Career

It was his first huge commercial success in a long time. After establishing a reputation for visual innovation with the release of his time-traveling teen comedy Back to the Future (1985) and its sequels, director Robert Zemeckis further cemented his position with the release of Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), a feature film that combined onscreen action involving live actors with cartoon characters.

A number of historical figures, including President John F. Kennedy and Elvis Presley, appear in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which follows the title character’s adventures. To portray these well-known people, filmmaker Robert Zemeckis chose to integrate a video of actor Tom Hanks onto old news footage rather than employing actors to play them. Zemeckis was awarded the Academy Award for best director for the film that resulted from the production.

Cast Away (2000) and The Polar Express (2004), both of which starring Hanks, were directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also received his first screenwriting credit in nearly a decade with the latter film, which was his first in nearly a decade. Animated visuals were created using motion-capture animation, which is a process in which live performers’ recorded gestures are digitally transformed into animated visuals.

The film was based on a children’s book of the same name and was produced by Disney. Films such as Beowulf (2007) and A Christmas Carol (2008), both directed by Robert Zemeckis, were created utilizing the same technique (2009). Denzel Washington’s return to traditional live-action filmmaking with Flight (2012), a drama about an airplane pilot (Denzel Washington) whose heroic actions on the job are undermined by the revelation of his substance abuse, and The Walk (2015), a documentary about Frenchman Philippe Petit’s (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) 1974 high-wire walk between the World Trade Center towers marked his return to traditional live-action filmmaking.

In the thriller Allied, a Canadian intelligence officer (Brad Pitt) is entrusted with discovering whether his wife (Marion Cotillard) is a German spy during World War II, and the results are shocking (2016). Following that, Zemeckis wrote and directed Welcome to Marwen (2018), a drama based on the true story of an artist (Steve Carell) who, after experiencing a horrific event, finds a therapeutic outlet in creating a miniature town filled with dolls that represent the people in his life.

His next project was the film The Witches (2020), which was an adaptation of a Roald Dahl children’s book. He also directed and co-wrote the script. In addition, Zemeckis collaborated on the script and directed the comedy for the whole family. During the 2015 New York City International Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) presented a retrospective of his film and television work, titled What Lies Beneath: The Films of Robert Zemeckis. The Museum of Modern Art was in charge of putting up the show (MoMA).
