The songwriter-singer and evangelist from Finland Nina Susann Åström is a Finnish Christian. Born on the western coast of Finland, Nina Åström (born in Lindkvist). She’s a sibler of three. She was awarded her MA in 1986 at the University of Turku, graduating from high school in 1981. (English philology major). The pair had twin daughters Wilma and Natalie. She is married to Benní Åström. Nina Åström also taught English and Swedish during her short term of professional life.

In 2001, when Ilkka PuhakKa and Reijo “Klinu” Loikkanen were requested to attend evangelistic tours in Russian prisons, she created an entirely new territory for her. Since then, it has frequently visited some 400 jails and drug rehabilitation centres, especially in the former Soviet Union. Nina Åström has been a goodwill ambassador to UNICEF in her home town/province, Kokkola. The Landscape of My Soul album published in 2007 marked the beginning of a new creative period for Åström.
The album was her greatest to date, according to critics and fans. In this album the lyrics for her own compositions also re-were claimed. Moreover, the artist produced her own album for the first time. The momentum continued as The Way We Are was published in 2010, with Åström penning 9 of the 11 text lyrics on this album. In April 2016 an album in Finnish was published by Markus Vainiomäki and Mikael Bergholm, “Takaisin kotiin” featuring compositions mostly Nina’s own. In the autumn of 2016, Leevi Launonen published a biography entitled “Nina Åström Toisin Silmin” on Nina’s work and life.
The 2018 Rauchaa ja rohkeutta album, once again produced and arranged by Markus Vainiomäki, is a timeless hymn CD comprising (in Finnish) Holy Holy Holy Holy, All the way my Savior leads me and my vision Be Thou. In 2019, Nina published a well expected album, Swedish, Frid og frimodighet, in her second home tongue. The CD features hymns from Rauhaa ja rohkeutta in Swedish as well as two new Swedish songs, Anna Sade, Jumala from Avoin Taivas and Vain Yksin Jeesus.
In Swedish the album also has two Swedish translations. Also in 2019, Nina released an English collection recording including the album title song Give me Jesus and new recording of her “trademark” song Freedom in prison walls. Nina Åström Youtube Channel has her songs in Finnish and English as well as frequent uploads of her video blog. Nina Åström has become more and more significant for her passing on experience and know-how; she teaches seminars and cooks/means what it means to be a Christian artist and communicator both in Finland and beyond. Kaarle Mannila (percussion, vocals) and Kimmo Suomela have been with Åström for many years (guitars). As the Nina manager and percussionist, Jim Hakola joined the club in 2014.
