Nick Frost was born on March 28, 1972, in Dagenham, London, to office furniture designer John Frost and his Welsh wife, Tricia (who died in 2005), both of whom worked in the industry. His sister, who was 18 at the time of her death, died of an asthma attack when he was ten years old. Ilford’s Beal High School served as his secondary education. Frost’s parents’ business failed when he was 15 years old, and they were forced to leave their house.
They were forced to move in with neighbors, where he observed his mother suffer a stroke as a result of the stress. Frost dropped out of school and went to work for a shipping company to help support his family. Following that, he spent two years living on a kibbutz in Israel. He met actor Simon Pegg while working as a server at a Mexican restaurant in North London, and the two quickly became good friends and flatmates together.
In the cult slacker comedy series Spaced, Pegg and Jessica Hynes created a persona for Frost that is partly inspired by Pegg and Frost’s lifestyle at the time. He has appeared in the Three Flavours Cornetto film trilogy, which consists of the films Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013), as well as the television comedy Spaced (1999–2001), among other projects.
Aside from that, he made an appearance in Joe Cornish’s film Attack the Block (2011). The 2011 film Paul, in which he co-starred with his frequent colleague and close friend Simon Pegg, was his first major feature film acting role. He also appeared in the sketch program Man Stroke Woman, in which he performed a variety of roles.
Together with actor Simon Pegg, he will co-create and feature in a paranormal comedic horror series called Truth Seekers in 2020. Frost is a close friend of fellow actor Simon Pegg, with whom he has featured in six films together as co-stars. Frost revealed in a 2005 interview that he was raised as a Catholic, but that he has now converted to atheism. Frost is a patron of the Humanists UK organization.
Frost lived in St Margarets, London, with his half-Swedish wife, production executive Mariangela, who was also half-Swedish. They tied the knot in 2008. He once resided in Finsbury Park, which served as a filming site for the Shaun of the Dead filming. Mariangela gave birth to the couple’s kid on June 22, 2011, according to the couple’s Facebook page. After a year-long separation, they eventually divorced.
Iceberg Frost’s book Truths, Half-Truths, and Little White Lies (Hodder & Stoughton) were published in October 2015, and it chronicles his life up until the age of thirty. He starred in corporate training video clips such as “Chris Carter and the Cover plan Challenge,” a Dixon’s sales video, before starring as Tim’s army-obsessed best buddy Mike in the Channel 4 drama Spaced (1999–2001), which aired for two seasons on the network’s channel 4.
Frost appeared in a one-off episode of Victoria Wood’s Acorn Antiques in 2001, in which he had a small role. Mr. Frost played an armed robber who murdered and killed Mrs. Overall, the most endearing character on the show, in a specially created episode that was screened throughout the series’ run called “The Sketch Show Story,” which Victoria narrated.
Frost created and hosted the show Danger! 50,000 Volts! in 2002, which was a satire of the outdoor survival genre in which military specialists demonstrated how to improvise solutions to potentially deadly situations. In the same year, Frost co-wrote and appeared in the film The Sofa of Time, which he co-starred in alongside Matt King.
In 2004, he participated in Shaun of the Dead, a “romantic zombie comedy” written by Simon Pegg and directed by Edgar Wright, who previously worked together on Spaced. Frost made his television debut in the comedy sketch show Man Stroke Woman, which aired on BBC Three in late 2005. In early 2007, a second season of the show premiered.
Frost starred as Commander Henderson in two seasons of the science fiction sitcom Hyperdrive, which aired on BBC Two in the spring of 2006. In addition, he appeared in the 2006 film, Kinky Boots. Frost made a cameo appearance in the British sitcom Look Around You, which was a spoof of 1970s/1980s technology that parodied the format of shows like Tomorrow’s World.
Frost was born in the United Kingdom. Frost and Pegg participated in a second Pegg-Wright feature picture, Hot Fuzz, which was set in Gloucestershire and was a tribute to the action and police genres. The film stars Frost as the bumbling Constable Danny Butterman, who teams up with Pegg’s charismatic Nicholas Angel after the latter is moved from the Metropolitan Police Department in London.
The duo reunited for their self-penned science fiction comedy Paul, which followed the exploits of a runaway alien in the year 2011. The two also appeared as Thomson and Thompson in Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, in which they played the titular characters. Supernanny, a reality television show shown on Channel 4, is narrated by Frost.
The surreal medical comedy series Green Wing, in which he appears as “simply a man” in bar scenes, has included him on the show’s second season (when Boyce asks who he is, he responds, “just a man”). Frost starred as Andy Knightley in The World’s End, the third feature film directed by Pegg-Wright and starring Pegg and Wright. Mr. Sloane, a comedy series broadcast on Sky Atlantic in 2014, featured him as the title character. Frost was cast as a member of the ensemble in the second season of the AMC television series Into the Badlands, which premiered in 2016.
