Throughout my time in school, it became very evident that I was destined to have a career in the culinary arts. I used to adore throwing dinner parties for my friends when I was a young teenager, and I would start writing down my recipes in a small note book. It was a chilli and lavender milkshake that I believe was the first original recipe that I produced; it’s safe to say that it was a failure, therefore it’s safe to say that I’ve come a long way since then! Otago University was not only where I met my husband Carlos but also where I spent the next five years learning the science that underpins food and nutrition through their nutrition and dietetics programme. Before the opportunity to compete on MasterChef presented itself, I spent a few years working as a dietician specializing in diabetes. I entered the reality TV cooking show with the hope of winning one of the prizes, which was the chance to write a cookbook. After a LOT of blood, sweat, and tears, I managed to cook my way to the top and win the competition. What a mind-blowing experience that was for me.
Nadia Lim Phone Number, Email, Contact Information, House Address, and Social Profiles:
To make a long tale short, since that day, it has been one hell of a ride, and I’ve stayed true to my ‘Nude Food’ ideals, which are to advocate for real food that is delicious, (naturally) nutritious, and unprocessed. My Food Bag has been the focus of the most of my passion projects (launched in 2013). My Food Bag is a service that delivers simple, nutritious, and appetizing dinners to the homes of thousands of families across New Zealand on a weekly basis. This helps these families answer the age-old question, “What’s for dinner?” each night. When I get a note from someone telling how much it has improved their lives — for example, their children eating more veggies and trying new foods, or their families eating together more frequently around the table – it still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We started publishing NADIA magazine in 2016, and it is a magazine that comes out every other month. In it, I discuss the things in my life, including cuisine, family, and life in general, that inspire me.
My food writing has been published in The Sunday Star Times and the New Zealand Herald on a weekly basis, and I’ve appeared on television as a guest judge on both My Kitchen Rules and MasterChef New Zealand, in addition to hosting my own cooking show (called “New Zealand with Nadia Lim”) on the Asian Food Channel. I’ve also done a little bit of everything in the food industry. In 2019, I traded in my apron for dance shoes and shimmied my way to the semi-finals of Dancing with the Stars New Zealand. That was such a fantastic (and simultaneously terrifying) experience. You only get one shot at life, right?. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to live in the stunning countryside of New Zealand with my husband Carlos and our two incredible sons, Bodhi and River. Anyway, enough about me… you’re probably hungry… why don’t you click here for some wonderful recipes, become my friend on Facebook and Instagram, and together we can prepare some amazing food.
