Condor was born in Vietnam and spent her first few months of life in an orphanage in Cn Th, where she went by the name Tran Dong Lan. She was adopted by a family in the United States and raised by them. The adoption took place on October 6, 1997, in Chicago, Illinois, and she was given the new name Mary Carol Condor (née Haubold) by her adoptive parents, Mary Carol and Bob Condor, who were from the United States. Condor’s adoptive brother, Arthur, is considered a member of his family.
For a period of time, Condor and her family resided on Whidbey Island, in Washington, and in New York City, among other locations. At the beginning of his career, Condor trained as a ballet dancer with the Whidbey Island Dance Theater and other professional organizations such as the Joffrey Ballet, Rock School for Dance Education, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, among others. She continued to dance with the Los Angeles Ballet while simultaneously obtaining improvisational theatre training at The Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, where she currently resides.
Career
A graduate of the New York Film Academy and the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors, she received a theatre scholarship to attend the California State Summer School for the Arts in Sacramento, California, where she studied acting for two years. In high school, she attended the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City, and she received a bachelor’s degree in theatre from Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles in 2015. She is currently working on her second novel.
Even though she had been admitted to Loyola Marymount University in 2016, she chose to defer her enrollment in order to pursue a career in acting instead. Condor made her feature film debut in Apocalypse, directed by Bryan Singer, in which she played Jubilation Lee/Jubilee, a mutant who goes by the name of Jubilation Lee/Jubilee. Additionally, it was during this time period that she appeared in Peter Berg’s drama film Patriots Day, which depicted the events leading up to and immediately following the Boston Marathon bombing.
Earlier in 2017, Condor acted as a co-star in the Lifetime romantic thriller High School Lover, which premiered on the network. She received critical acclaim for her performance as Lara Jean Covey in Netflix’s romantic drama film To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, directed by Susan Johnson and based on Jenny Han’s young adult novel of the same name, which was released the following year.
She was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for her role in the film, which she received. Condor featured as assassin Saya Kuroki in Syfy’s action-drama series Deadly Class, which was based on the comic book series of the same name by Rick Remender. Condor was killed by a sniper while filming the series. She also starred as Koyomi in the science fiction film Alita: Battle Angel, which was based on the graphic novel series of the same name by Yukito Kishiro. She is best known for her role as Alita in Alita: Battle Angel.
Additionally, Condor has appeared as Kaoru in the Netflix stop-motion animated series Rilakkuma and Kaoru (2019), as Casey in the Netflix comedy series BoJack Horseman (2019), and as a co-star in the romantic comedy Summer Night (2019), which was directed by Joseph Cross and is set in a coming-of-age environment. Condor will reprise her role as Lara Jean Covey in the next film All the Boys: A Love Story, which will be released in 2020.
It is the second episode of the film series, directed by Michael Fimognari and titled P.S. I Still Love You, and it is the second episode in the film series.
