I am the eldest of Anne and Ted Kingsbury’s five children; I was born in Fairfax, Virginia, and I am the oldest. After my father read me “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” for the very first time, I was immediately drawn to the works of Dr. Seuss. By the time I was five years old, I had the tale completely committed to memory. Because my dad worked as a computer programmer for IBM, we had to relocate quite a bit. Perhaps it was the process of moving that brought my passion of reading into sharper focus. I was able to find pals that I would never have to part with in literature. When I was 10 years old, my family and I moved from Michigan to California, where we would remain for the subsequent 20 years. Back then, I was head over heels in love with Southern California, and I was a genuine Valley girl because to my upbringing in the San Fernando Valley. It took me approximately half an hour to go to the beach by driving via Malibu Canyon, and while I was there, on the sands of the Pacific Ocean, I fantasized about writing novels. My mind was racing with possibilities for narratives.
On the other hand, the more practical aspects of writing resembled journalism, which was a subject that I studied throughout my time in high school and college. When I was a first-year student at Pierce College, there was a point in the year when I reached the conclusion that I had had enough of writing. If I weren’t an actor, I’d be a lawyer and a prosecutor. During that academic year, I was enrolled in an English class, and three weeks into the semester, my instructor, Professor Bob Scheibel, directed me to move to the front of the classroom. Bob was a grumpy old journalist who had a lot of experience from his lifetime. He served as the editor of the school newspaper. He asked me while pointing his finger in my direction and asked, “Are you Karen Kingsbury?. “There are two things.” He peered through the frames perched on the very tip of his nose. “First and foremost, you will never ever give up writing. And secondly, you are now a member of the staff.”
There was no point in debating the matter with Mr. Scheibel. And just like that, my destiny was decided. In 1986, after completing my studies in journalism at Cal State University Northridge, I began working as a sports reporter for the Los Angeles Times. I had earned my degree in journalism at that time. My dad was a terrific instructor, and I was a quick learner, so I was able to quickly pick up on everything he taught me about sports. Initially, I covered high school athletics, but I quickly began to see larger stories and deeper stories, and my coverage helped me acquire a name. My editors would turn to me whenever they needed a tearjerker in a piece. Around that time, I met the man who would become the love of my life. His name was Don, and he was a blonde California kid with blue eyes. Don had one driving ambition, and that was to live his life for Jesus Christ. On our very first outing together, he brought a Bible and requested if we might read the book of Philippians together. I didn’t recognize a Philippian from any other “ippian,” and to be perfectly honest, I thought he was completely insane. But because he was so adorable and well-groomed, I was willing to put up with his reading from the Bible.
Karen Kingsbury Phone Number, Email, Contact Information, House Address, and Social Profiles:
After a period of three months, the tension in our “Bible” chats continued to rise. I was unable to defend the perspectives I have or the moral standards I’ve developed over the course of my life. At long last, I’d had enough. I did this to him as we were standing outside his car one day. I took his lovely Bible, which was highlighted and underlined, and I dumped it on the ground. Separate the two halves of the binding down the middle. Don scooped up the shattered glass, gave me a pitiful look, and then got back in his car. My assumption was that the ground would give way, and I would find myself hurtling into… well, you know. Instead, God gave me the opportunity to get in my car and drive to a Christian bookstore, a store that I had driven by my entire life but had never, not even once, gone inside of. While I was there, I purchased a Bible as well as a concordance. I got in my car and drove back to my apartment, where I immediately began constructing an argument for the man-made nature of my ideas. Instead, I heard God saying, “You can either fall away with your erroneous opinions on life or you can grab onto my Word and never let go.” (You have two options here.)
I grabbed. I’m still clinging to this rock, and I’m still standing here on it today. The remaining time of my life will be spent in submission to the teachings of the Bible. Don forgiven me, and the two of us started attending a non-denominational church that believes the Bible. After a few months of attending a Bible study on a weekly basis, we decided to get baptised. It was the same week that Don had asked me to be his wife. On a day in July of 1989 that set a new high temperature record, my wife and I exchanged our vows and became husband and wife. We didn’t care. With God on our side, we were prepared to take on the world and eager to express His love in any capacity that the Lord saw proper for us to serve in. We were responsible for our own heating and cooling in the one hundred dollar-a-month garage apartment that we rented. I was working at the newspaper while Don was completing up his requirements for his teaching credential. Around that time, I was promoted to the front page and given the assignment to write the Sunday feature story, which often involved a gruesome and convoluted murder.
We were surprised to learn that I was pregnant on our sixth month anniversary together, as this was in no way part of our original plan. Because I worked so many hours at the newspaper, I believed I wouldn’t have time to get to know this youngster. Don expressed his happiness and then remarked, “We need to pray.” God will reveal to you how you can write while you are at home. He is able to achieve that. While I prayed with uncertainty throughout the course of the next nine months, Don prayed consistently. We beseeched the Lord to open the door for me to conduct my professional life from the comfort of my own home. A request that is, at best, highly improbable. During that time, I was able to sell a story to People Magazine. It was about a tragic real-life murder that I had previously covered for the newspaper. After it was published in People, I received a message from a literary agent in New York. He was of the opinion that the tale would make a fascinating book. I have consented to compose a proposition.
