Jimmie Johnson Bio Data :

Jimmie Johnson’s full name is Jimmie Johnson. Kenneth Johnson is an American race car driver who has won seven National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) championships. He was the first driver to win the championship in five consecutive years (2006–10), and he is the most successful driver in the history of the sport.

Having begun competing in motorsports as a child at the age of five, Johnson won his first title in motorcycle racing when he was eighteen years old. Eventually, he transitioned to four-wheel vehicles and began competing in off-road racing, competing in leagues such as the Short-Course Off-Road Drivers Association, SCORE International, and the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group, among others.

In his first six seasons, he won six championships and was awarded Rookie of the Year in each of those leagues. He then moved on to the American Speed Association, where he was named Rookie of the Year for the first time in 1998.

His first NASCAR race was in the Busch Series the following year, and by 2000, he was a part of Herzog Motorsports’ Busch squad, where he finished third in the Rookie of the Year standings. The NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon recommended Johnson to Hendrick Motorsports after his previous sponsor, Herzog Motorsports, went out of business in 2000.

Career

Johnson finished 39th (out of 43 drivers) in his maiden participation in NASCAR’s premier series, the Winston Cup Series, which took place on October 7, 2001. It was renamed the Nextel Cup Series in 2004 and the Sprint Cup Series in 2008, respectively.

In addition, he took home his first Busch Series victory at Chicagoland Speedway in 2001, finishing seventh in the series point standings at the time. In 2002, he competed in his first season of the Cup Series, winning three races and finishing the season in fifth place overall.

With two victories at Dover International Speedway in Delaware, he became the first rookie in series history to sweep both races at a track and the first to take over the lead in the point standings.

He is currently in first place in the standings (for one week). Having won three races in 2003, he finished second in the standings the following year, and he repeated the feat in 2004 when he won a series-high eight races. Despite finishing fifth overall in 2005, he went on to have a strong season the following year.

In 2006, the year he won his first Cup Series championship, Johnson won five races, including the Daytona 500, and finished in the top five on 13 occasions and in the top ten on 24 occasions. In 2007, he won his second championship, becoming the first driver since his teammate Gordon won 13 races in 1998 to have 10 victories in a season (including four in a row).

With seven victories in 2008, Johnson earned his third championship, tying him with fellow American Cale Yarborough, who was the first driver to win three straight championships (1976–78). The next year, Johnson won seven races again, this time en route to his fourth championship.

He was the first driver in NASCAR history to win four consecutive championships, and he was the first driver in the sport’s history to be voted Male Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press. He was able to secure a sixth championship with the help of his six victories in 2010.

It was in 2011 when Johnson’s championship streak came to a stop, with him finishing sixth overall in the Cup Series season. He followed it up with a third-place finish in 2012. He won his second career Daytona 500 victory in February 2013, and he concluded the 2013 NASCAR season with his sixth career Cup Series championship.

Johnson had his poorest full NASCAR season to date in 2014, finishing with four race victories and an 11th-place finish in the Cup Series standings. In 2015, he had a slightly stronger year, with five victories and a 10th-place finish in the Cup Series. When Johnson won his seventh career NASCAR championship in 2016, he tied with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt for the most titles won by a driver in Cup Series history. Johnson’s skid of lackluster seasons came to an abrupt stop.
