Jeff Cirillo Bio Data :

Jeffrey Howard Cirillo is a Major League Baseball former third baseball player. Cirillo was a batter in a 14-season career with 112 home races and RBI with 727 in 1617 games. In 1997 and 2000, he was named All-Star. He shares the leading record of 99 consecutive error-free games with John Wehner on the third base. He beat and threw right. Cirillo was born to Howard Cirillo and Carol Grant in Pasadena, California. He has a sibling, Adam Grant, who played UCSB baseball. Cirillo attended high school in Providence where he excelled in basketball and baseball.

Then, despite garnering little interest from colleges in his high school years, he enrolled at University of Southern California. As a Trojan, he started as a pitcher, but later in his college career he was shifted to the third base. He was a member and graduated with a degree in communication from the Phi Kappa Psi brotherhood there.

Cirillo was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 11th Round. Cirillo has collected an average of 300 batts with the Brewers over three seasons, including a career-high 326 for 1999. That same year, with 15 home runs and 88 RBI, he has collected 198 hits (also a career high). His most productive season occurred when he made career-highs in RBI (115), runs (111) and two doubles (53) in the year 2000 with the Colorado Rockies.

Career

On 16 December 2001 the Rockies traded Cirillo for Denny Stark, Brian Fuentes, and José Paniagua to the Seattle Mariners. He was unproductive with the bat after posting the lowest BABIP since rookie season, but he was strongly defensive when he ranked the second best third baseman in the American League in Seattle in 2002. In 2003 he continued to defend himself above average but posted the lowest BABIP in his career (.226 compared to a .320 career average).

Prior to the 2004 season, Cirillo was dealt to San Diego Padres but was mostly inactive with a wrist issue. He made history by becoming the four thousandth strikeout victim of Randy Johnson on June 29, 2004. Cirillo joined the Milwaukee Brewers in 2005, and he experienced a rise in stroke, although he continued his strong defence wOBA of 355 in 2005 and 344 in 2006. In December 2006, Cirillo signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins. He didn’t finish the season with the Twins and on 3 August 2007 the Arizona Diamondbacks rejected him. Cirillo claimed that after the end of the 2007 season he would most likely retire.

He made his first pitching appearance against Milwaukee on August 20, 2007. He tossed an inning and left two walks and no runs while struck one man, Craig Counsell, the former Diamondback. Bill Hall remarked, who worked one of those walks, “He’s lot nastier than I anticipated he’d be. “When I went up there, I was stunned. He has a knuckleball, a slider, he has been throwing some changes. These pitches look quite hard to 84, 83 [mph fastballs]. I heard that he was a better college pitcher than he was a batter.”

Prior to the 2007 NLDS, Cirillo had one of the most unwanted records for baseball. In 1617 regular season games, he had played but never in the afternoon. When his club played, it passed the distinction to Damion Easley of the New York Mets, who had played 1,706 straight games without a playoff berth in 2008. On 2 April 2008 Cirillo was announced to join the Wisconsin FSN as an analyst for Milwaukee Brewers. He appeared for the first time on 18 April 2008.

He has worked in 2008 and 2011 as a pre/post-game show for two years. Cirillo worked for the Arizona Diamondbacks as a part-time Scout (2009 and 2010). In 2012, Cirillo was hired as a scout by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Cirillo’s partner is the Walla Walla Sweets and Pippins Valley Partner of the Pacific Baseball Ventures, LLC.

Both teams will be playing in the West Coast League in Walla Walla, Washington, a summer college woodbat league. Cirillo is also an assistant baseball coach to the baseball team at Bellevue High School, coaching his boys, Cole (2016 class), Carson (2018 class) and Connor (class of 2019) Cirillo has three boys, Cole (born 1997), Carson (born 1999) and Connor, with his ex-wife Nancy: (born 2001).

During Jeff’s stint at the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cirillo family lived in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. His son, Cole, played football and basketball and took part in track and field events in Bellevue High School prior to finishing his studies in 2016. He now attends Southern California University. In 2018, Carson was a graduate of Bellevue High School in Baseball and Golf, who was now a member of the University of Puget Sound, and in 2019, Connor, who played basketball and baseball, also graduated with a view to joining the University of Southern California.
