The Frisco RoughRiders (often abbreviated to ‘Riders’) are the Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League. During the Spanish–American War, the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, led by future US President Theodore Roosevelt, was dubbed “The Rough Riders” by the American press because of their rough appearance. Riders Field, which first opened its doors in 2003, has a capacity of 10,316 people. Since 2003, the RoughRiders have served as the Rangers’ minor league club in the Texas League.
