Erik Jones Bio Data :
Erik Benjamin Jones (born May 30, 1996) is a professional stock car racing driver in the United States. He is the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion and now races full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series with Richard Petty Motorsports in the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE.
Jones started driving at the age of seven in quarter-midgets; at the age of 13, he moved on to stock cars, and in 2010, he joined the ASA Late Model Series, where he became the youngest-ever winner of the Oktoberfest event at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Jones moved to the Champion Racing Association’s CRA All-Star Tour in 2011 and claimed the series title in his first year; he also won the Governor’s Cup 200 late model race at New Smyrna Speedway that year, leading every lap; he was the first driver not born in Florida to do so in over thirty years. Jones switched to the ARCA Racing Series for the 2012 season, becoming the series’ youngest driver at the age of 15; he competed in ten of the series’ 19 races (he was not qualified at tracks longer than one mile), finishing third at Winchester Speedway and Berlin Raceway. Jones won the coveted Snowball Derby in December of that year, defeating NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch.
After the original winner, Chase Elliott, was disqualified after post-race inspections found a piece of tungsten in his engine, Jones was crowned the winner of the 2013 Snowball Derby in December 2013.

Jones competed in 25 events with JGR in the renamed Xfinity Series in 2015, dividing the No. 20 and No. 54 Toyotas. Jones won his first Xfinity Series race in the No. 20 car at Texas Motor Speedway on April 10, 2015. Later that year, Jones accomplished a weekend sweep, winning the Truck Series at Iowa for the first time in 2015 and the Xfinity Series at Chicagoland in the No. 54, battling Ryan Blaney for his second career Xfinity Series victory. Jones raced a part-time Xfinity schedule in 2017 when he transitioned to full-time Cup racing. He won back-to-back races in Texas and Bristol in April. Jones worked as a pit reporter alongside Ryan Blaney and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for Fox NASCAR’s Cup drivers-only coverage of the Xfinity meet at Pocono in June. Jones competed in the 2019 Food City 300 at Bristol in the XCI Racing No. 81 Toyota, finishing 37th after being involved in a multi-car pileup with Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, and Joey Logano.
Jones began 2020 by winning the Busch Clash, despite being involved in three crashes at the end of the race, which resulted in several overtime attempts due to more wrecks among the field. Jones won the third overtime with a drive from Hamlin on the final lap. After fellow Toyota team Leavine Family Racing announced the selling of their team in August 2020, it was announced that JGR would be parting ways with Jones at the end of the season, bringing an end to a long-running friendship that began in 2012. Jones would miss the playoffs after being injured in a crash at Daytona International Speedway, a race he needed to win to secure his place. On October 21, 2020, Jones was confirmed to drive the Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43 entry in 2021, replacing Bubba Wallace.
