A younger brother. Doolittle grew raised at Highgate and attended Channing School For Girls, Bedales School, and Kingsway College in Westminster. She used to be on stage and to witness her mother sing and she always wanted to be an artist for recording. She chose the stage name Eliza Doolittle, the character Pygmalion and My Fair Lady because it was her child’s nickname.

Career

Eliza had a short theatre career portraying Young Cosette in London’s West End in Les Misérables in 1996–1997. During the initial production, her parents met and began her relationship when their dad was the co-director and her mother played Eponine. In 2001 when the Royal Shakespeare Company presented the piece in London, Eliza continued to play the lead part in Lucy Simon’s Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of The Secret Garden.

Eliza Doolittle toured the UK with her band before she entered the charts. The initial version, released on 29 November 2009 was an EP including the tunes “Rollerblades,” “Moneybox,” “Police Car” and “Go Home.” Plastic Little (“Rollerblades”), Sam Young and Jamie xx from The xx remixed the EP tracks (“Money Box”). Rob Da Bank, Nick Grimshaw, Fearne Cotton, and Jo Whiley played in the EP.

She recorded a song called ‘Running For Life’ that appeared in the 2008 British cult film AdULTHOOD. Later that year she delivered her debut festival performance at Glastonbury on the stage of Pussy Parlour. At the beginning of 2010, she was part of the charity single “I Put a Spell on You” of Shane MacGowan in support of the 2010 Haiti disaster.

Her first single “Skinny Genes” appeared in the UK Singles Chart on 12 April 2010. [quote required] She said Steve Lamacq of BBC that the song is “a humorous scenario if you didn’t like someone but you had a fantastic time under the sheets.” The second release of Doolittle was called “Pack Up,” released on 5 July 2010 and was launched on 11 July 2010, achieving Official UK Singles Chart No. 5.

She performed in Austin, Texas at the Southwest Festival and Coachella in California in March 2011. Doolittle was touring the UK in April 2011. The self-titled album of Doolittle was published in the U.S. over a year after the date of 19 April 2011. In 2013, Doolittle worked with Disclosure on their debut album, Settle, on the tune “You & Me.”

She began recording new songs for her second album earlier that year. She told Elle in an interview with Elle magazine in April 2013 “I’m showing myself absolutely more than I ever had before. I feel like I’ve never truly experienced anything on my last album, and it’s been three or more years since then, and I’ve been feeling and seeing things I haven’t before, and I know things that I haven’t ever known before.

I somehow have answers to questions, but then they open up a thousand additional questions. I suppose I have passed through stuff so many people are under at the age I am. I wrote about each thought and emotion practically every day and the CD consists of songs that meant most to me.” She premiered the new track “Big When I Was Little,” released in July 2013, on 7 June 2013.

It then joined the playlist of BBC Radio 1 and features on its second album. The single’s video aired on your YouTube channel on 17 June 2013. In 2013 Wookie wrote a song called ‘The Hype’ to Eliza and the UK garage artist. Wookie also contributed a remix of her ‘Walking on Water’ track on ‘In Your Hands.’ In ‘YNSP’ she also featured the track of DJ Dahi’s INNANETAPE mixtape by hip hop musician Vic Mensa.

She played a role as a nightclub singer in BBC One’s The Great Train Robbery in December 2013. In 2014, Burt Bacharach invited Eliza to sing to him at the Henley Festival during the summer of 2014. She remarked, “I wanted to sing a song since I first heard his music, and it gives me the emotion that I cannot describe to be able to do it with him in his show!” Her latest album A Real Romantic was released on 12 December 2018.
