Daren Jay Ashba is an American musician, guitarist, songwriter, record producer, and graphic designer who was born on November 10, 1972.

Career

He eventually became a member of the band Barracuda and toured with them for two years. Addiction to the Friction, his debut instrumental album, was published in 1996. In 1998, Ashba became a member of BulletBoys’ new lineup. Joe Lesté of Bang Tango was a bandmate of his throughout his stint with the band. He left the band in 1999 to form a new band with Lesté. With Bang Tango frontman Joe Lesté, Ashba began putting together the band that would become Beautiful Creatures in 1999. They’ve enlisted former Shake The Faith and No. 9 bassist Kenny Kweens and session drummer Anthony Focx, who played the drummer in Tia Carrere’s club band in the 1992 film Wayne’s World. Following his departure from Beautiful Creatures, he founded ASHBA alongside former Tuff guitarist Michael Thomas, who was Ashba’s successor in the band until leaving in 2003, bassist John Younger, and drummer Blas Elias. In 2003, Ashba was asked to join the band Brides of Destruction, which included Nikki Sixx and Tracii Guns, but he declined to focus on his solo project. With 2005, a minor spat erupted when it was revealed that neither Tommy Lee nor Mick Mars were involved in the new tracks for Mötley Crüe’s compilation album Red, White & Crüe; responsibilities were allegedly handled by Vandals drummer Josh Freese and Ashba, with Mick being accused

After collaborating with Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and producer James Michael under the name Sixx:A.M. in August of 2007, Ashba released the critically acclaimed album The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, which served as a soundtrack to Sixx’s autobiography The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star. The song “Life is Beautiful” peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Initially, the band said that they had no plans to tour. They organised a countrywide poll for tour dates after ongoing support for the band and desire in a tour. The tour was originally intended to begin in spring 2008, but owing to unforeseen circumstances, it was postponed until the summer. In February 2018, Ashba announced Pyromantic, a Sixx:A.M. spin-off band. Ashba and James Michael will be in the band.
