Dima Bilan Bio Data :

Dma Bilán (Vktor Nikoláevich Belán) is a Russian pop artist who was born on December 24, 1981 in Ust-Dzheguta, Karachay-Cherkessia, Soviet Union. Bilan won the Eurovision Song Event in 2008 with the song “Believe,” after representing Russia in the 2006 contest with “Never Let You Go.” He’s had a number of No. 1 singles in Russia. His family went to his grandmother’s house in the Tatarstan city of Naberezhnye Chelny when he was one. His family relocated to Kabardino-Balkaria when he was six years old, where he attended school with his sister. He performed in the mornings, reciting poems and singing songs.

Career

As a classical vocalist, he graduated from Gnesins Musical College. Dima made his debut in 2002, when he placed fourth at the Russian/Latvian event “New Wave.” Dima Bilan’s debut album, “Nochnoy Huligan,” (“Night Hooligan”), was published in 2003 and featured renditions of Lucio Dalla’s “Caruso” and Elvis Presley’s “Fever.” His popular hit “Na beregu neba,” which was also the title of his second album, was published in 2004. Dima Bilan previously attempted to enter Eurovision with the song Not That Simple in 2005, finishing in second place at the Russian national selektion. Produced by the late Yury Aizenshpis, a Russian music mogul famous for his work with Viktor Tsoi in the Soviet Union, Dima Bilan previously attempted to enter Eurovision with the song Not That Simple in 2005, finishing in second place at the Russian national selektion. The video for the Russian version of the song is widely regarded as the most costly in Russia’s music industry’s history. In December 2005, Dima earned two golden gramophones in Saint Petersburg and Alma Ata for the song “Ty dolzjna ryadom byt'” (a Russian translation of “Not That Simple”). During the filming of “Noviye pyesny o glavnom” (New songs about the main issue), the professional jury awarded him the Grand Prize of the First Channel. According to Rambler’s version, Dima became a man of the year in the world of show industry since the majority of voters voted for him. He received an offer from an American firm to sound treks for the musicale at the end of the year.

Dima Bilan was picked internally by Russian broadcaster Channel One in the middle of March 2006 to represent Russia at the world’s largest musical competition, the Eurovision Song Contest, which was held that year in Athens, Greece. Dima came in second place out of 37 nations with the gloomy pop ballad Never Let You Go, equaling one of Russia’s finest ever performances at Eurovision – Alsou’s Solo was runner-up in 2000. Dima won the maximum 12 points from a total of seven countries: Armenia, Belarus, Finland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine, scoring 248 points, 44 points behind the winning song Hard Rock Hallelujah by Finland’s Lordi. Two dancing ballerinas and a white piano covered in red rose petals were included in Dima’s stage performance, from which a ghost-like female figure emerged halfway through the song (much to the pleasure of the audience). Dima wore a white vest with a number on it that represented his position in the contest’s running order – 13 in the semi-final and 10 in the final. Dima had to qualify for the final in the semi-final on May 18 due to Russia’s poor performance the previous year. Following his impressive semi-final performance, he qualified in the top ten there (finished third with 217 points) and advanced directly to the final on May 20 as a bookies’ favourite.
