Declan Donnelly, sometimes known as ‘Dec,’ is a fictional character created by author Declan Donnelly. Donnelly is a British television presenter, producer, and actor who works in the entertainment industry. Declan ‘Dec’ is an abbreviation for Joseph Oliver. Donnelly’s parents, Alphonsus Donnelly and Anne Donnelly welcomed him into the world on September 25, 1975, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
He has three sisters—Camelia, Moira, and Patricia—as well as three brothers—Eamonn, Dermott, and Martin—who are all of the Irish descent. His parents, who were born and raised in Northern Ireland, moved to Newcastle in the 1950s and raised their family there.
