Clinton LumberKings Bio Data :

Through the summer months, the Clinton LumberKings compete in the Prospect League’s Eastern Division as a collegiate summer baseball club, representing the University of Maine at Clinton. NelsonCorp Field in Clinton, Iowa, which is owned by the city council of Clinton, Iowa, serves as the team’s home field for all of the team’s home games. During the period 1956 to 2020, they belonged to the Midwest League of Minor League Baseball, which had its headquarters in Chicago.

After the 2020 season, Clinton was not picked to continue his baseball career in the affiliated levels as a result of Major League Baseball’s revamping of its minor league system, which will take effect after the season. A baseball team was created by Clinton in 1895, and the team competed in a variety of leagues for the next several decades. Clinton fielded irregular teams in various leagues during the next few decades, much to how the Great Depression, World War I, and World War II disrupted baseball clubs across the country.

For their part, Clinton became a member of the Midwest League in 1956, giving them both the league’s founding member and the league’s most established franchise. The team has had affiliations with a number of major league teams, including the Brooklyn Dodgers (1937–38), New York Giants (1939–41), Chicago Cubs (1947–49), Pirates (1954–58 and 1966–68), White Sox (1959–65), Pilots/Brewers (1969–70), Tigers (1971–75), Tigers/White Sox co-op (1976), Giants (1980–94), and Dodgers (1977–79). In September 2018, it was reported that they had agreed to a two-year player development agreement with the Miami Marlins, which became effective immediately.

The team, with the exception of its years as the C-Sox (1960–65) and the Pilots (1966–76), has always gone by the nickname of the parent major league team, except for the 1994 season, when it adopted the LumberKings moniker and became the LumberKings (pronounced “lumber”). The 2010 LumberKings season is the subject of a fictional baseball team in Lucas Mann’s 2013 book “Class A: Baseball in the Middle of Everywhere,” which is set in the middle of nothing and is set in the middle of nowhere. When Mitch Canham took over as manager of the Clinton LumberKings in 2016, the team won 86 games, setting a new franchise record for the most wins in a single regular season by any other team in the franchise’s long history.

After a successful regular season, the team advanced to the postseason by sweeping the Peoria Chiefs in the first round and then defeating the Cedar Rapids Kernels in a nail-biting three-game series in the second round of the playoffs. Ricky Eusebio’s walk-off home slam in the ninth inning gave the Colorado Rockies a 1-0 victory in the third game of the Western Division playoffs on Sunday, which went into extra innings. The LumberKings, on the other hand, were upset by the Great Lakes Loons in the Midwest League Championship game, which was played over four games and finished in a tie for first place.

Aside from that, the LumberKings changed their ballpark overnight into a football field during game two of the Midwest League Championship, setting a new team record for the most wins in a single season. It was the first-ever “LumberBowl,” a football game between the LumberKings and Camanche High School Football that was broadcast live on ESPN. The LumberKings defeated the Camanche High School Football team.

At Williamsburg High School in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 16, 2016, the Camanche hosted a football game versus the Bulldogs. The Raiders of Williamsburg trounced the Indians 55-7 in the season’s final game, a route that was widely anticipated. As part of Major League Baseball’s reorganization of the minor leagues, the LumberKings were reassigned from the Midwest League and affiliated baseball after the 2020 season as a result of the restructure.

It has been announced that they would compete in the Prospect Competition, which is a summer collegiate baseball league, during the summer baseball season of 2021. Ashford Field is a football stadium in the town of Ashford in the English county of Kent. It had previously been known by a variety of names, including Alliant Energy Field and Riverview Stadium. NelsonCorp Field, the LumberKings’ home stadium, is located in the city of Clinton, Iowa, and serves as their home field. It was built as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project and was dubbed Riverview Stadium because of its location on the Mississippi River’s banks.

The stadium opened in 1937 and was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The stadium first opened its doors in 1938, marking the beginning of the modern era. The stadium, which was renamed Alliant Energy Field in 2002 and refurbished in 2005–2006, could hold a total of 4,000 spectators on a single level after being reconstructed. Ashford University Field was originally called as NelsonCorp Field before being renamed NelsonCorp Field in 2011 and then NelsonCorp Field again in 2019. The measurements are as follows: LF – 330 millimetres, CF – 401 millimetres, and RF – 325 millimetres.
