Chonda Pierce, a contemporary gospel stand-up comedian, television host, poet, and actress, was born Chonda Ruth Courtney on March 4, 1960, in Covington, Kentucky, in the United States of America. She is the seventh, one boy and three girls, of four children. Living in Myrtle Beach, Pierce spent much of her early life in Georgetown, South Carolina. Her family moved to Ashland City, Tennessee, near Nashville, when she was 15.
Her father, a pastor, was a man who was very violent. Before turning 18, her two sisters died: the older one, Charlotta Kay, died in a car accident at the age of 20, while the younger one, Cheralyn Ann, died at the age of 15 from leukaemia. Chonda had a childhood that was painful, to say the least.
She attended college at Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, and later received a move to Austin Peay State University. She majored in dramatic art; she wanted to become an actress one day.
For reasons which are best known to her, Chera started to hate her parents. It is said, however, that her bitterness with her parents, especially her mom, has to do with the intense emphasis of Chonda on her career at the expense of the family. Chera eventually got married, had children, and cut off all of her parents and family contact.
For the first time, at his sophomore at Cheatham County High School, Ashland City, Tennessee, Chonda and her husband, David W. Pierce met. David was a handsome young man who was a champion in state wrestling; he played guitar in the same way. Chonda Pierce released the film of her life titled ‘Laughing In The Dark and Enough’ on August 13, 2016. It chronicled her mother’s loss, her daughter’s estrangement, her husband’s death, and her battle with clinical depression. She made the movie so that it would act as a platform to inspire those in their lives who could be reaching points of darkness and depression. The documentary earned five nominations for the Daytime Emmy and won the award at the 2016 Park City International Film Festival for Best Documentary.
