Bon Jovi Bio Data :

Jon Bongiovi (born Jon Bongiovi) spent his boyhood in local Jersey bands with David Bryan (born David Rashbaum). Jon’s cousin Tony Bongiovi operated the legendary New York recording studio The Power Station, where he worked as a janitor and recorded demos with the E Street Band or Aldo Nova.

One of the tracks, “Runaway,” became a hit on New Jersey radio, inspiring Jon and Bryan to establish Bon Jovi, with guitarist Dave Sabo, bassist Alec John Such, and drummer Tico Torres. “Runaway” sparked a major-label bidding war, with Polygram/Mercury winning in 1983. Before going into the studio, Bon Jovi replaced Sabo with Richie Sambora, a working guitarist who had previously played with Message.

Career

In 1984, Bon Jovi released their self-titled first album, which included the Top 40 smash “Runaway.” 7800° Fahrenheit followed in 1982, and served as a lead-up to the band’s 1986 breakthrough, Slippery When Wet. Paul Stanley gave Jon and Richie Desmond Child’s phone number, and they composed two of the album’s biggest hits in Richie’s parents’ basement. The group wrote 30 songs and then auditioned them for teens in New Jersey and New York to determine the album’s running order.

In the wake of “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Livin’ on a Prayer,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive,” the album gained momentum. Slippery When Wet sold nine million copies in the United States alone thanks to these three Top Ten Hits, making Bon Jovi household names. As well as in the United States, the album was a worldwide smash hit, selling millions of copies. New Jersey, which came out in 1988, had the same recipe as Slippery When Wet. Two of New Jersey’s top ten successes, “Born to Be My Baby,” “Lay Your Hands on Me,” and “Living in Sin,” were written and produced by the state. After an 18-month international tour, the band decided to take a break.

Between tours, Jon Bon Jovi wrote the music to Young Guns II, released in 1990 as Blaze of Glory. The album had two top-ten hits, the title track and “Miracle,” and received Grammy and Oscar nominations. In the fall of 1992, Bon Jovi regrouped to create their fifth album, Keep the Faith. While the album didn’t achieve the same level of success as its predecessors, “Bed of Roses,” an adult contemporary ballad, helped maintain the band’s fame. In 1994, Cross Road included another Top Ten ballad, “Always.” Hugh McDonald, who had previously been on Bon Jovi records dating back to “Runaway,” became his unofficial replacement and appeared heavily on the band’s following album.

This Days, released in the fall of 1995, became a Top Ten smash in both the US and Europe. Destination Anywhere was Jon Bon Jovi’s first official solo album after participating in the 1996 films Moonlight and Valentino. In 1998, Sambora released his second solo album, Undiscovered Soul, before returning to work in 1999 with a song for EDtv and then a full-length album.

The resulting album, Crush, was released in 2000 and included the cross-platform hit single “It’s My Life.” In addition to “Thank You for Loving Me,” Crush went double platinum in the US and sold eight million copies worldwide. Bon Jovi released their eighth studio album, Bounce, in the fall of 2002, and promoted it with another international tour. The band re-recorded many of its classic songs for the 2003 acoustic disc This Left Feels Right, which came with a DVD in 2004.

The album’s popularity was bolstered by the single “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” which featured Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles on guest vocals and went on to win the Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. The duo spent the next year recording a series of pop-infused heartland country anthems. Lost Highway, featuring duets with LeAnn Rimes and Big & Rich, came out in the summer of 2007 and gained the band a new country music fan following.

The Circle, released in 2009, was a sad, yearning album by the band. An album full of favorites, Greatest Hits: The Ultimate Collection included two new tracks, “No Apologies” and “What Do You Get?” In the early 2010s, members of Bon Jovi worked on individual projects, most notably Richie Sambora’s Aftermath of the Lowdown (2012). Within two months of Sambora’s album, the band released Inside Out, a concert DVD at the O2, MetLife Stadium, and Madison Square Garden.

After a four-year hiatus, Bon Jovi returned with What About Now in March 2013. It topped the Billboard Top 200, as well as the charts in Australia and Canada, and came in second in the UK. Despite its excellent debut, What About Now did not earn gold status in the US. What About Now was released to much fanfare in the Bon Jovi camp. After Sambora quit the tour in 2013 for “personal reasons,” guitarist Phil X (Phil Xenidis) took over, and Tico Torres had gallbladder surgery. Torres returned, but not Sambora.

Announcing his departure in November 2014, Phil X became his unofficial permanent replacement. Burning Bridges, released in 2015, was a “fan album,” a collection of songs designed to fill in while Bon Jovi worked on their first post-Sambora album. This House Is Not For Sale debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in November 2016. Bon Jovi came back four years later with the full-length Bon Jovi 2020. The album’s pre-release songs “American Reckoning” and “Do What You Can” exemplified its blunt and politically heated nature.
