The Atlanta Braves is a professional baseball team based in Atlanta. It has held the distinction of being the only major league team to have participated in every season since the inception of professional baseball to this point. Throughout their history, they have won four World Series championships (1914, 1957, 1995, and 2021), as well as 18 National League championships and two American League championships (NL). As one of the nine founding members of the National Association of Professional Baseball Players, the Boston Red Stockings were founded in 1871 by Ivers Whitney Adams, who would go on to become a member of the National League.

With four weeks left in the season, the team surrendered an eight and a half-game lead in the Wild Card standings and missed the playoffs, marking the second-worst September collapse in Major League Baseball history.
Upon their comeback in 2012, the Braves were easily defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals in a new one-game Wild Card playoff game, which was played in Atlanta (the team that had edged out Atlanta for that position the year before). In 2013, the Braves won their division for the first time in eight years, however, they were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by the Atlanta Braves.
The Braves’ 67–95 record during this rebuilding period, which began after the team missed the playoffs in 2015, was the team’s worst record in a quarter-century.
