Andreas Bourani is a German singer-songwriter who was born on November 2, 1983.
Career
Bourani was born in Augsburg, Bavaria, to Egyptian parents and was adopted as an infant by a German family. He went to St. Stephan High School and studied music at the Downtown Music Institute when he was younger. He relocated from Munich to Berlin in 2008. He signed a recording contract with Universal Music in 2010 and opened for Philipp Poisel and Culcha Candela on their stadium tours that year. Staub & Fantasie, Bourani’s debut album, was released in June 2011. It charted at number 23 in Germany and produced the hit single “Nur in meinem Kopf,” which charted in the top 20 in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The single was awarded gold in Germany after selling over 150,000 copies. With his second single “Eisberg,” he represented Bavaria in the Bundesvision Song Contest in September 2011. He came in tenth place in the tournament. He subsequently went on tour with Unheilig, where he was included in one of their popular singles, “Wie wir waren.” He was nominated for the German Music Authors’ Prize in the category of Best Pop Text in April 2013. Hey, Bourani’s second studio album, was released in May 2014 and featured the single “Auf uns,” which charted at number one in Germany and Austria. The song was also included in the trailer for Die Mannschaft, a film about the German National Football Team’s victory in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
