Alexandra Elizabeth Roach is a Welsh actress who was born in Cardiff. Roach was born in the Welsh town of Ammanford, in the county of Carmarthenshire. She has a number of families who have served in the police force at various times, including her father Jeff (who went on to work for the Welsh Rugby Union), her brother, and her sister. In her early teens, Roach participated in the long-running television soap Pobol Y Cwm, for which she won the Children in Entertainment Award for Best Juvenile Actor in a Soap.
Roach is fluent in Welsh and speaks it fluently. Following her departure from the series in 2005, she spent time with the National Youth Theatre of Wales before enrolling at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where she received a B.A. in acting from the University of London in 2010.
In 2003, while studying for her GCSE exams at the local comprehensive school, she received word that she had won the prize for the best juvenile actor in a soap opera at the Children in Entertainment Awards, beating off actors from national soap operas to win the award.
