Alan Cumming was born in the Scottish burgh of Aberfeldy’s parents Mary and Alex Cumming, who were both teachers. His father worked as a forester on the ‘Atholl Estate,’ while his mother worked as a secretary for an insurance business in the area. Alan and his older brother Tom were raised on the ‘Panmure estate,’ which was where the family moved when they moved to Australia in 1969.
