Rick Riordan Bio Data :

The award-winning US novelist Rick Riordan has been most recognized for his book series ‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians.’ He began his career as a professor and finally moved to San Francisco, where he continued to teach English and social sciences, having grown up in San Antonio, Texas. Rick Riordan was born on June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, as Richard Russell Riordan Jr. His dad, a former professor, Rick Riordan Sr., is now a realtor. His mother, Lyn Belisle, an English student at Trinity University, is a lecturer in computer applications and graphics design.

Rick, only the issue of his parents, was always an imaginative child, and through reading books he was encouraged by his parents. They designed a flag once on a camping journey to Port Aransas, pretending to have established a mediaeval fortress. Rick was largely raised by his mother after his parents’ divorce in the 1970s. He also had a profound respect for his father, though, and considered him a role model, acknowledging that “in those early years the cornerstone to whom I would be was laid for my father’s observation and learning.” As a kid, although ‘Lord of the Rings” was his preferred novel, he liked Greek mythology.

His first rejection message from ‘Isaac Asimov Science Fiction’ magazine in 1978 also caught him in several short stories. He has successfully sent some to magazines. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1982 and entered the North Texas State School in Denton where, during that era, he participated in a music program leading a folk-rock band. He was transferred shortly thereafter to Austin University of Texas where he studied English and History.

He finished his studies in 1986. He subsequently entered San Antonio University of Texas where he was certified as a teacher. He had been marrying Becky since his high school days, Rick Riordan, on June 5, 1985. They have two sons together: Haley Michael Riordan (1994), Patrick John Riordan (1998). They’ve got two sons together. They have lived in Boston since June 2013.

Career

Rick Riordan started his career at the San Antonio Public School as an English and Social Science Teacher. He relocated later to the San Francisco Bay area to teach at several institutions, including Presidio Hill School. Raised in San Antonio, he quickly began Missing Texas and decided to create his first book, ‘Big Red Tequila,’ as a ‘hards boiled private eye fiction’ set in his hometown. He won the Shamus Award and the Anthony Award in the next year, which were published in 1997.

In 1998, he wrote The Widower’s Two-Step on the same subject as ‘Big Red Tequila.’ The next three were: The Last King of Texas (2000).It was while he was busy authoring a number of fantasy adventure novels for the Three Navarres series. It all commenced when in his second grade, his eldest son was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia and requested him for anecdotes on the subject. He began to recount the Greek mythological tales, as asked by his son.

But after his inventory of known stories was depleted, he began to create a fictitious figure called Percy Jackson, who travelled around the United States to collect the flashbag of Zeus. He released his narrative as ‘The Lightning Thief’ in 2005, on the advice of his son. Followed up were four volumes about “Monsters’ Sea (2006), “Titan’s Curse” (2007), “Labyrinth’s battle” (2008) and “Last Olympian” (2009).

He went to Egipt, publishing The Red Pyramid in 2010, The throne to Fire in 2011 and The Shadow of the Serpent, in 2012 after completing the Percy Jackson series. He continued to write more books at the same time, including “The Heroes of Olympus,” “The Kane Chronicles,” “The 39 Clues” Series, etc. In 2015 he focussed on the North mythology and wrote a trilogy called ‘Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard.’ He also started writing a five-volume series titled ‘The Trials of Apollo,’ which will be published in the fall of 2019 in its fourth book ‘The Tyrant’s Tomb.’
