A New York Times Best-Selling author, Bob Goff is the author of the novel Love Dos. As a founding partner of Goff & Dewalt, LLP, Bob also serves in a top leadership role there. Mr. Goff is recognised as a diplomat by the United States Department of State, and he is known as an Honorary Consul for the Republic of Uganda as a result of his work with Restore International, a non-profit organisation that he established.

“Find daring, useful, and successful ways to battle the injustices committed against children,” Bob stated in his founding statement for Restore International in 2003. Restore International has contributed to the abolition of forced prostitution in India by apprehending more than 80 criminals and placing the children in both temporary and permanent residences in the country. Restore also built a school, the Restore Leadership Academy, in a war-torn area of Northern Uganda, which now serves over 250 students.

The organisation has also brought over 200 cases to court, allowing children to be released from detention without trial. In Uganda, Goff goes once every 100 days, spending anything from 7–10 days on each visit, meeting with judges, appearing in court, and visiting the Restore Leadership Academy, among other things. Restore International also has a presence in India, where it investigates and rescues teenage girls from the shackles of bonded servitude. Over 80 violators have been apprehended as a result of Restore’s activities in India.

Goff and Dewalt, LLP was started by Bob Goff in 1968 as a construction defect law firm. The firm, which has its headquarters in Washington, specialises in construction defect lawsuits, general counsel, and international rights (through Restore International). In his spare time, Bob works as an adjunct professor at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he teaches a business law course.

Currently, Bob Goff is working with Love Does, formerly known as Restore International, a non-profit organisation that he started. “Finding daring, practical, and successful ways to battle the injustices committed against children,” Goff stated in the founding statement of Restore International (now known as Love Does) in 2003. Love Does strives to promote human rights and education in conflict zones that are either in conflict or are in the process of recovering from conflict. Uganda, Iraq, Nepal, Somalia, Afghanistan, and India are among the countries in which Love Does is currently active.

Love Does has been working to bring about justice for the poor with the help of a dedicated team of individuals. Over 200 cases were brought to trial as a result of the organization’s collaboration with Uganda’s court, including those involving children who were languishing in detention without trial. In India, Love Does research and acted to free underage girls from a life of forced prostitution, which resulted in the identification and arrest of more than 80 offenders of the abuse of child girls. It has now established a school in Northern Uganda called the Restore Leadership Academy, which is run by a non-profit.

Goff’s motivation has been motivated by the friendships he has formed with people all around the world who share his passion to find strategic ways to assist those in need. As an attorney, Bob is a partner in the Goff & DeWalt legal company in Washington, which he started in 1998 and serves on the board of directors. Aside from that, he serves as Honorary Consul for the Republic of Uganda in the United States of America.

What appears to be simple is frequently not so simple; what appears to be simple is frequently not so long-lasting. It was a lawyer like myself who attempted to frame Jesus for murder. This lawyer approached Jesus and inquired as to what the greatest commandment was. I believe he was looking for a strategy, but Jesus provided him with information about his purpose instead. …

As the author of Love Does, Bob Goff is also an attorney and the founder of Restore International, a non-profit human rights organisation that works in Uganda and India. Bob is a frequent guest speaker at leadership and academic events, where he motivates present and future influencers to get to the “do” phase of their lives.

I’ve written a few books, and some of the stories in them are likely to have made you laugh, while others are likely to have made you cry. I want you to be challenged by this book. The information on the pages that follow is intended to help you determine your goals and then map out a course to achieve those goals.

When I was out of college and living on my own, I had a closet in my house where I would put all of the stuff that didn’t have a designated home. Naturally, this closet gradually devolved into a massive, chaotic, and impenetrable jumble of junk. Even if everything in there was plainly essential enough to acquire at some point and even expensive enough to maintain, none of these things stayed available to me any longer since there was no order in which they were displayed. A large number of objects, each with a monetary value, were collectively worthless as a result of my inability to obtain access to them.

Our lifestyles are not all that dissimilar. We collect memories, emotions, information, and self-awareness as we go through our lives. Pains, triumphs, disappointments, and wisdom are all accumulated over time. We won’t be able to access these things or learn from them if we don’t have any shelves to put them on. This will hinder our ability to go forward. These life lessons and “aha!” moments are the kind of material you’ll need to draw on when you figure out what your next steps will be in the direction of your goals. Leave the self-help ramblings at the door. What you really need is a nice set of shelves to keep track of what you’ve already done, as well as the willingness to reflect on what you discover.

It took 220 years after the invention of the pencil for someone to come up with the idea for the eraser. That they did is a good thing since I’ve removed much more from my life than I’ve kept. This is something that we all get to do. We take what we’ve written about ourselves, and what we honestly feel God thinks of us, and we determine what to keep and what to throw out of the window. We aren’t the only ones who have the ability to write our own life. Other people who have crossed our path have written over us in the same way that high school classmates have signed the pages of a yearbook. Some of what they say is accurate, beautiful, and long-lasting, but others are not. Other things, however, were less successful. In my yearbook, “Never Change” was written by at least a dozen different people. It’s the absolute worst piece of advice I’ve ever received. We’re supposed to change continually – become nicer, humbler, more faithful copies of our previous selves. This development and growth happens when we sift out the truth from the lies in our lives. Some exciting news has arrived. The next version of you is the one who will pursue the goals that all of the other versions of you were unable to achieve.

The understanding we gain of who we are and how God sees us will be well worth all of the time and effort we put into the project. Once all diversions, misstatements, and misconceptions have been eliminated from our daily lives, the trick is to figure out what is true about ourselves and our world. We will gain the clarity we need to identify the interests that are worth pursuing when we sort through all of the words written by ourselves and others, and when we reject what is no longer true or does not matter to us. This is why it is worthwhile. What’s left will be your most genuine, beautiful, and long-lasting objectives, whatever they may be. All of this is the subject matter of this book.

My religious beliefs have molded my perspective and play a significant role in my aspirations. I made the decision to make my first and ultimate objective to love God and the people I encounter without any other goals in mind. Certainly, I haven’t arrived, but I am well on my way to achieving my objective. You are as well.

My interpersonal interactions are also important. Some people are very easy to get along with. If you want to accomplish big things in life, surround yourself with a couple of these individuals. Find a couple of folks who are difficult to fall in love with as well. Instead of treating them as projects, treat them as friends. This is the environment in which you will develop. I guarantee that if you follow these guidelines, you will live a life that is both purposeful and meaningful. While it will be complicated at times, and you will make mistakes along the way, your ultimate goal will never grow clearer. My knowledge of this comes from the fact that if you go deep with a few individuals and remain close to those who irritate you, you will have attained the goals that Jesus indicated were always worth the effort.

However, while no effort of yours or mine will be more important than loving God and the people in our lives, our objectives can be far larger, far more expansive, and far more diversified than this. I’d like to speak with you about those topics as well.

Success in achieving your goals will not be easy, and it will not be inexpensive, either. Don’t take the easy way out. What are the chances of experiencing difficulties along the way? You will, without a doubt. The reason is straightforward: you are who you are, and life is what it is. Continue on your current path. We’ve convened leaders in conflict-torn countries only to have our gatherings raided as a result of their presence. I’ve been detained, imprisoned, and even expelled from countries because I advocated for the release of children confined in brothels. We’ve created schools in war zones that have failed miserably, and we’ve started schools that should not have functioned but have still succeeded. Don’t let the problems you’ll meet deter you from your goals; keep in mind why you started in the first place. Keep your goals and life’s purpose in the forefront of your mind. Why? Because our lives are a form of on-the-job training for the rest of our lives.

If ambitions had two handles, they would be love and hope, as in love and hope for the future. There have never been two forces in the history of the world that were more strong than these two combined. For the most part, life is about just grasping hold of love and hope and holding on for dear life.

When one of the Bible’s writers, named Paul, remarked, “There is no other way to live than to die,” he hit the nail on the head.

The only thing that matters is faith as it manifests itself in love. — Galatians 5:6 (NASB)

I agree with you. It’s easy to confuse faith with all of the theology that you believe to be true in your religious beliefs. Faith, on the other hand, is defined by what you do in response to what you believe. It’s natural for most of us to wish for the best in other people’s lives. It’s wonderful and bright, and we should continue to do a lot of things like that. As well as dreaming for ourselves, this book is about committing to our most significant objectives with confidence and a strategy so that we may bring those ambitions into the world and make them a reality.

You’ll need to do the heavy lifting in order to accomplish things in your life that you haven’t yet been able to do, and that means carving out some time to reflect on who you are, why you think the way that you do, and why you do what you do. This isn’t to say that you should go out on a hedonistic binge and make everything about yourself. There is nothing more unsatisfying than making everything about you and your needs. This is a book about self-discovery rather than self-help.

Dreams are far too simple to come true. Even when it’s asleep, my dog wags its tail a little bit. The only way I can help you realise and achieve your greatest and most worthwhile aspirations is to help you become fully awake to yourself and your God-given purposes.

For all of this to be possible, one must acquire a new way of thinking. If you want to accomplish this, you’ll need to carve out a new groove in your brain that will allow you to go for your goals rather than simply pushing them around on the plate like a bunch of peas. The process of etching a new groove in your brain is similar to that of blowing up a balloon. It’s a huge balloon. When you think about your goals for a lengthy, your thoughts can get disorganized and your mind can begin to spin. Take some time to relax. Rest is a sacred thing. Allow yourself to nap for as long as you need, but be aware of when it is time to be fully awake and return to work. If we’re going to go after some of them, we’ll have to be creative.

We need to take that new groove you’re creating and make it as deep as the Grand Canyon, in order to realise your unfulfilled aspirations. It will take some work to complete this task, but it should be completed nonetheless.

Allow me to get things out in the open. God is absolutely ecstatic about you. Honest. I’ve approached Him with my question. He’s not frowning at your past mistakes; instead, He’s beaming with delight at the bright future you have with Him. As you pursue your goals, take comfort in the knowledge that heaven is completely smitten with you and can’t wait for you to arrive there. Having said that, you’ve got some free time right now, so take advantage of it. Making eternity one of your biggest ambitions is terrific, but what if we use this desire to better understand your short time here on earth and what you’ll do next with your life.

Career

It was Bob Goff who founded the law business Goff and Dewalt, LLP in 1968 as a construction defect law firm. With its headquarters in Washington, the business specialises in building fault litigation, general counsel representation, and international human rights protections (through Restore International). For the time being, Bob Goff is engaged in non-profit work with Love Does, formerly known as Restore International, which he founded. In addition to writing Love Does, Goff is the author of the New York Times best-selling novel.

Goff claimed in the foundation statement of Restore International (now known as Love Does) in 2003 that the organization’s mission was “finding daring, realistic, and successful solutions to challenge the injustices committed against children.” It is the mission of Love Does to promote human rights and education in conflict zones that are either in the middle of a conflict or in the process of recovering from a conflict. In addition to Uganda and Iraq, Love Does is currently engaged in Somalia, Afghanistan, and India, among other countries.

Love Does has been fighting to bring about justice for the underprivileged with the assistance of a dedicated team of volunteers since its founding in 2004. Over the course of several years in India, Love Does conducted study and action to release underage girls from a life of forced prostitution, which culminated in the identification and arrest of more than 80 perpetrators of cruelty against young girls. As a result, the non-profit has developed a school in Northern Uganda called the Restore Leadership Academy, which is run by the students who attend.

In addition to the friendships he has developed with people all over the world who share his enthusiasm for finding effective methods to aid those in need, Goff has been driven by the opportunities he has had to travel. As a lawyer, Bob is a founding partner of the Goff & DeWalt legal firm in Washington, which he founded in 1998 and still serves on the board of directors. On top of his writing career, Goff also works as a motivational speaker on a global scale. As part of his Dream Big Framework curriculum and workshop, he introduced the Dream Big Framework in 2016. The Dream Big Framework is intended to motivate people to achieve their deepest ambitions and life goals.
